The Dragon Boat Festival
The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional festival in China.
Many years ago, a poet called Qu Yuan loved his country very much. However, the king asked him to leave the country. He felt very sad. When he learned that another country had taken over his country, he didn’t want to live any more. At last he jumped into the Miluo River. The local people rowed their boats to save him, but it was too late. They didn’t want the fish to eat his body, so they dropped rice balls into the river. Since then Chinese people have been celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month every year.
On this day, people usually hold dragon boat races and eat zongzi in memory of Qu Yuan.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important traditional Chinese festivals.
It’s on August 15th in the Chinese lunar calendar. It’s a public holiday, and people have three days off. The festival has a long history. It’s a time for family members to get together. We usually celebrate the festival with a big dinner. We also eat the traditional food called mooncakes on that day. It’s very relaxing to enjoy the moon while we are eating mooncakes!
There are many traditional festivals in China, such as the Spring Festival and the Dragon Boat Festival. Festivals play an important part in Chinese culture.
